At the beginning of the pandemic, many did not understand the precautions and transmission mechanisms surrounding the disease, in a context where rumours and disinformation overtook official informational sources.
Therefore, Psychologist Ácio visited each one of the 38 Centre’s children. Ácio guaranteed that children knew the local governmental norms and that their families were respecting prevention measures, cleaning their hands and clothes. He also opened a dialogue to explain any doubt that they might have.
These visits followed every prevention measure and distancing, allowing children to feel close to the HIV Centre – a daily home for many.
The HIV Centre delivered biweekly food and hygiene baskets during the poandemic that had a monthly cost of c.£719, generously supported by The Egmont Trust.
