In rural communities in Gaza Province, Mozambique, hundreds of girls grow up surrounded by challenges that come too early: poverty, inequality, gender violence, school dropout and, often, pressure to marry before their time.
It is in this context that the ALG Winners project operates, creating safe spaces where girls can learn, dream and discover within themselves the strength to change their own destiny.
The project is based on a structure deeply rooted in the community with a dedicated coordinator. Everyone participates in meetings, training sessions and dialogues that strengthen self-esteem, develop leadership skills and raise awareness of their rights.
The various sessions cover topics that are often silenced in everyday life: gender equality, health, rights, the body, violence, dreams and choices.
There, each girl finds space to ask questions, listen, share and grow.
More than just explaining concepts, the meetings open the door to sincere sharing, profound questions, and reflections that many of these girls have never had the opportunity to do safely.
Because when a girl learns, the whole community grows.
