Meet the inspiring story of Júnior Filipe, an amazing child who is part of the ALG family since 2020 (Júnior Filipe is 9 years-old and is with A Little Gesture since 2020), when he joined the S. Vicente de Paulo sponsoring program.
His mother is very engaged with A Little Gesture’s activities. In 2020, she helped in the school farming plot, currently Júnior’s mum contributes to the School Feeding program as one of the talented cooks, strengthening the community and securing nutritious meals for all our little students.
During the past month, Júnior’s sponsor (under the UPG Portugal Sponsoring program) wanted to give him something special, something that would make a difference – a bicycle! For many children in poor countries, such as Mozambique, a bicycle is more than a means of transportation, it is a window of opportunities. A bicycle can significantly increase access to education, health, and social activities.
Now Júnior can go to school in a quicker and safer way, making the most of his time to learn and play. A little gesture with a huge impact on this amazing child’s life.
Sponsors have the option of giving presents to their sponsored children. The presents are usually always something they might be needing such as clothes, school materials or household goods. Additionally, the presents are bought in the local shops to boost the local economy.
