We bring you a moment that touched us all! In early 2025, during the opening ceremony of the school year, Vicente was called to the stage to receive recognition as the best student of 2024. He was honored for his commitment and dedication, receiving school supplies as a prize: a backpack, five black notebooks, a pencil case, a ruler, and a pen. For many, these are simple objects. For him, they are a sign that his efforts are seen, valued, and meaningful.
Vicente is 9 years old and lives with his aunt, whom he calls his mother, because of the way she has always cared for him with affection, presence, and support. He never knew his father, and his biological mother faced health problems. His story began with challenges, but never without affection, courage, or a willingness to learn.
He is in 3rd grade, and school is his favorite place to be. However, his day does not end when classes are over. Vicente is also a cattle herder, helps collect firewood, and assists with household chores. He has little time to play, but he always finds a moment to open his notebooks—because he knows that education is the key to building the future he dreams of. And that future has a name: teacher. Vicente wants to teach, inspire, and offer other children what he learned so early on—that knowledge opens doors and that the right support can change lives.
This Christmas, we celebrate stories like Vicente’s—real and full of promise.
