Day 2: TVCABO Brings Colour and Joy to Children’s Day
On 14 June, São Vicente de Paulo School was filled with colour, joy and celebration when it received a visit from TV Cabo Moçambique. The occasion marked a special moment in the calendar of ALG’s Pre-School Education Project, reinforcing the commitment to children’s development and celebrating the Day of the African Child in advance.
The welcome couldn’t have been more vibrant: the children delighted the visitors with a performance of Xigubo, a traditional dance rich in culture and symbolism! With smiles and well-rehearsed steps, they kicked off a day that will remain in everyone’s memory.
Afterwards, the director of the school accompanied the representatives from TV Cabo on a guided tour. The classrooms, where the children take their first steps on their educational journey every day, were proudly presented. In addition, the Principal emphasised the plans for the future facilities, demonstrating the constant evolution and ambition of the school community.
In an emotional speech, the Principal shared the history of São Vicente de Paulo School, the challenges overcome and the achievements made. It was an inspiring reflection on the transformative power of education and the impact that community initiatives have on children’s futures.
The children continued the programme with cultural performances that were true spectacles. From the Ngalanga dance to parades and presentations on children’s rights, each moment reflected the creativity, talent and cultural pride of the ‘flowers that never wilt’. The closing with a vibrant Xigubo dance drew applause and smiles, showing that culture can unite and inspire.
Nalla Orbay, representing TV Cabo, was moved to express her gratitude for the warm welcome and praised the organisation and beauty of the school. With words of appreciation, she emphasised the partnership with ALG, which has lasted since 2018, as an example of the positive impact that collaboration can generate.
The symbolic cake-cutting moment was shared by the children and TV Cabo representatives, accompanied by gifts and educational materials that lit up the children’s faces with genuine joy. These gifts were not just a gesture of generosity, but a recognition of the potential of each of the children and a reminder of the value of solidarity.
This day was not only a celebration of the Day of the African Child, but also a living example of how the union between communities and institutions can transform lives. Between music, culture, education and sharing, the importance of continuing to invest in the integral development of children, preparing them for a future full of opportunities, became clear.
A Little Gesture, together with partners like TV Cabo, continues to believe and work so that every child has their place in the world – a place where they can grow, learn and shine.
