On Saturday, the São Vicente de Paulo School was the setting for a festive and social gathering: a picnic organized to celebrate the victory at the Sports Day.
A reward for hard work throughout the days
The Games bring together a diverse range of activities, from sports to cultural dances, including chess, poetry, and other artistic expressions. Over the course of several months, the children prepare for and participate with dedication and enthusiasm in these different areas, demonstrating not only talent and skills but also values such as camaraderie, mutual support, and respect for their peers.
The picnic thus serves as a reward for the winners—a symbolic recognition of all the effort, dedication, and team spirit demonstrated throughout the Festival.
Games, socializing, and a meal together
These moments ultimately become a true collective celebration. Gathered in a relaxed atmosphere, the children also had the opportunity to play various games together, extending the fun and spirit of camaraderie that had already marked the event.
As part of the celebration, the mentees were also treated to a meal shared by everyone—a simple yet meaningful moment that strengthens the bonds among the children and youth, as well as between them and the Um Pequeno Gesto team.
Much more than just a competition
These moments, though informal, play an important role in the development of the children in our care. Through the various activities of the Events—whether sports, cultural, or artistic—and the social interaction that accompanies them, essential skills are developed, such as cooperation, resilience in the face of victory and defeat, and a sense of belonging to a group and a community.
Initiatives like this reinforce A Little Gesture’s commitment to taking a holistic approach to every child and young person—not only through support for education and nutrition, but also through opportunities for recreation, cultural expression, and a sense of belonging, which are equally essential for healthy and happy growth.
